Daniels 70 Weeks

Daniel’s 70 Weeks are found in chapter 9.

These were told to Daniel by an angel, given as 7 and 62 weeks to the death of the Messiah. And as a final 70th week which is seen by many as the final 7 years, ending in destruction. A time mentioned by Jesus as in the end of days of when they see the abomination of desolation in the temple as spoken of by the prophet Daniel, those in Jerusalem to flee to the mountains.

There are different ideas about these weeks and as to when they were fulfilled or if any are left to be fulfilled.

One group of thought is that the final 70th week is final 7 years at the end of days.

Another group of thought is that the final 7 years were fulfilled after Jesus resurrection. However this line of thinking is on who the “prince” is in the final verse. And this must be taken in context. For the first group see this as the antichrist, the one whose people killed the Messiah. The second group see the final prince as Jesus himself, putting an end to sacrifice. This group differs some what and some actually think the second coming of Jesus is over and done with.

We need to research and experiment and calculate and see what has occurred and what will come. So we can test what has been fulfilled because we can see what is written and what the angel said to Daniel, for it is these things which were meant to be fulfilled in these periods of time known as the 70 weeks. He listed them out as…

70 weeks decreed to your people and the holy city.

1.     To finish the transgression

2.     Make an end of sins

3.     Make reconciliation for iniquity

4.     Bring in everlasting righteousness

5.     Seal up the vision and prophecy

6.     Anoint the most Holy.

While one could argue on a spiritual level and on a physical level. One can argue the seeds and yet the incomplete outcome.

If these were fulfilled already, it would be over and done with.

However we can go down the list and see that not all is complete. Some have started and the world as we know it is STILL NOT in the hands of the King (Jesus) which will reign forever and ever. Sure he is in the heavens, but here on earth, he does not get the kingdom until after the 7th Trumpet is blown.

So quickly down the list and all we need is one thing NOT Fulfilled to show the final week is to come…

1.     To finish the transgression

This is the process of things playing themselves out until the foreknown conclusion as is prophesied

NOT Fulfilled

2.     Make an end of sins

When people no longer sin is yet to happen. We need to know what we are doing. Too many in God’s name think they are doing good yet do harm

NOT Fulfilled

3.     Make reconciliation for iniquity

This was done with the death of the Messiah as the lamb of God

Fulfilled

4.     Bring in everlasting righteousness

This has occurred and is yet to occur. All by faith in Jesus are righteous, but they still sin. But the growing in them is God’s work to make them more like him

NOT Fulfilled

5.     Seal up the vision and prophecy

This word SEAL is to fulfil completely, so there are no more to do.

NOT Fulfilled

6.     Anoint the most Holy.

To pour out God’s spirit in fullness on everyone. Those who are into his spirit, are anointed, those who are not are tormented, and so need to stay away from God in the outer darkness.

NOT Fulfilled

So now we can get down to testing the numbers and dates.

The First 69 Weeks (from decree to death)

We have some very amazing evidence to prove that Jesus is the Jewish Messiah, by dying at the same time in a count of days. Yes DAYS! For it gives an event as the start of the count. A decree given to rebuild Jerusalem with the wall and gates, and the cost picked up the king. What we find is that the years are different to ours, and by conversions, some trial and error experimentation we have found that the years are based on 12 lunar months, coming to 360 day years. And we can see that the other counts of other prophecies use the same base numbers of 30 day months, giving 1260 days for 42 months, which is also half of 7 years at 3.5 years.

The lunar cycles are based on the full moon, and are used to plan seasons for planting and harvesting crops. With the major full moon synchronizing the year occurring in the month of Nisan called the Paschal Full Moon which always occurs on the 14/15th of Nisan. This also is the timing of the festival of Passover where lamb’s blood was put on the door posts in Egypt so the angel of death would pass over that household.

Julius Caesar of Rome recognized the difference in times and days between festivals, and it found that 365.25 days could be averaged between one full cycle, meaning a leap year every 4 years. This gives us the Julian Calendar. This is also the basis of modern times (also as modern years). Note many other civilizations have differing year times and counts for their numbering.

So a conversion from the times (years) of Daniel to the times of the Julian Calendar would mean simply to count the days and then divide them by the 365.25 days of a Julian Year.

69 Weeks is 69 x 7 x 360 = 173880 days

Lunar Years

Days

Julian Years

69 x 7 = 483

483 x 360 = 173880

173880 / 365.25 = 476.05749486652977412731006160164

476 is the years to add, the remainder adds to around 1.5 hours +/- 10 mins

You can skip this maths for working out the days, hours and minutes put into this table and go to the next major heading to continue – The Decree.

Working out the Remainder…

The decimal places after 476 are as a percentage of 365.25 left over with 365.25 being 100%

0.05749486652977412731006160164

Dividing 365.25 days by this remainder will let us know how many of these remainder values make a year.

365.25 / 0.05749486652977412731006160164 = 6352.7410714285714285714285717281

The number of hours in a year can be found by days times hours which is 365.25 x 24 and comes to 8766 hours.

As can be seen the 6352.7410714285714285714285717281 is less than the 8766 hours in the year. This means that the base units are more than one hour as less of them a needed to fill the same space, but is less than 2 hours as it is less than double it. So if we divide them out, we will find that an hour is about 72.47% of our original remainder, hence it is less than 2 hours in duration difference as seen here. An educated guess of a ball park figure can be found by ratios, 50% would be 2 hours, 100% would be 1 hour, 75% would be 1.5 hours, so we can see it between 1.5 and 2 hours, above 1.5 hours by about 2.53%.

6352.7410714285714285714285717281 / 8766 = 0.72470238095238095238095238098654 x 100 to get %

This means 1 hour is 72.47 % of our original remainder.

The Decree

The prophecy says there will 69 weeks between the decree to rebuild Jerusalem with her walls and gates to the Messiah being cut off. This in hindsight is seen as the death at Passover as Jesus was crucified. The prophecy also says that also her temple, streets and moat will be rebuilt.

In searching history for these events, there are several decrees given to rebuild the temple from various kings. However these do not have anything to do with rebuilding Jerusalem and the walls and gates. The record is found in the prophet Nehemiah which was the cup bearer to King Artaxerxes, and can be read in chapter 2. It says the king was in his 20th year of his reign and in the month of Nisan. And that Nehemiah was sad when he came before the king in his duties as cupbearer and the king asked why he was sad and what request could he fulfil to make him happy.

He was sad because the city of his fathers lay in ruins. And the month of Nisan was a time for major celebrations amongst his people with the feast of Passover at the Paschal Full Moon. These would have been reminders to him of what they were missing out on and even why. For they were in exile as captives of the king of Babylon because they were unfaithful to God. So he prayed about the king’s favour and what to request and decided to ask for his city Jerusalem to be rebuilt. And he got the king to write all the permissions for the timber and travel passes to make it so and headed off personally to oversee it all.

This is different to previous decrees to rebuild the temple, as they didn’t include the city, the walls and the gates.

History shows us King Artaxerxes came to power in 465 BC.

(Note our historic record dates are based on Julian Years with the Catholic modification of BC and AD, when an effort was made to mark time with the birth of Christ.)

His 20th year was 19 years later, as it is an inclusive count to be in the year and not after it.

So we add 19 years to it, and we are in fact working in BC which is negative numbers maths.

In the calculator this would be as…

- 465 + 19 = - 446

Giving us the year 446BC and also the month of Nisan from the record, the month of Passover that the DECREE to REBUILD JERUSALM was given.

We are working with Julian Years here, and so now we need to add our Julian value for the 69 weeks which is 476 years.

Again we are working with negative numbers in BC.

In the calculator this would be as…

-446 + 476 = 30

Since we are now working with a positive result it means we have crossed the divider point of zero which is part of our number line. However, when the years were numbers, they didn’t use zero in maths, and so there is no year zero.

And all of history’s dates which were synchronized to this new system also had no year zero.

It went from 1BC to 1AD as the next year, with Christ supposed to have been born in 1BC.

We now know this to be incorrect and it can be proven conclusively that Jesus was born in 3BC by astronomy signs occurring on that day of September 12 (9 11 in USA) (see Jesus Birth)

This brings us to the zero issue.

There is no year zero, yet we have calculated on the calculator which does count zero as a unit in the tallying.

So quite simply, this means that our final answer 30 is one less than it should be, as zero was counted as a unit.

We make the adjustment by as 1.

So 31AD is seen as the year of the Messiah’s death.

The month would be the same month as what we started in, which is Nisan.

The celebration of Passover during this month.

Jesus is called by apostle John in the book of Revelation as the Lamb of God which takes away the sins of the world.

The parallel of the Passover Lamb’s blood sending away the angel of death, is also seen with the death of the Holy One’s blood taking away the sins of the world.

Note this fits with the Paschal Moon Passover calculator which converts it to Friday 23rd of March 31AD.

This FITS EXACTLY with a count backwards of 33 lunar years (33 x 360 = 11880 days) back to September 12, 3BC with the astronomy signs from scriptures occurring as Jesus birth. (see Jesus Birth)

This maths proves these things to be accurate and true.

Proving that Lunar Months and Lunar Years are the required units for bible prophecies.

There are other interesting factors pointing to this. A count from the decree to Jesus year of birth, if done inclusive comes to 444. And the number 444 comes up a lot in regard to Jesus and man. (see 444 Signs)

From here we now go to the final 70th Week of Daniel.
